KVK Mokokchung trains Longmisa youth in sustainable agricultural practices

KVK Mokokchung organized a one-day off-campus training at Longmisa village, where 24 youths participated in the program. Imtisenla ACTO (Agronomy) shared insights on the topic of “Involvement of Rural Youths in Agriculture,” highlighting various enterprises such as mushroom cultivation, value addition, poultry, goatery, apiary, integrated farming systems, and vegetable cultivation that youths can undertake. She cited examples from within the district where youths are actively involved in agriculture and encouraged participants to pursue similar ventures.


Khekali Sema ACTO (Horticulture) discussed various sustainable avenues under horticulture that youths can take up for income and employment generation. She emphasized that value-added products should be registered with good packaging and cosmetics. She also shared stories of successful entrepreneurs who have ventured into horticulture, thereby addressing the issue of unemployment.

Imtilemla ACTO (Soil Conservation) spoke on the topic of rainwater harvesting and conservation, a practice encouraged by the Jal Shakti Abhiyan Ministry since 2019.

The youths were provided with dragon fruit saplings and vegetable seeds to raise awareness about the importance of cultivating different types of crops that require less water.
