KVK Mokokchung in its weather update has predicted that moderate rainfall (20-44 mm) is expected till 13th July in the district. Day temperatures are expected to rise during the coming days. Till 10th of July, the expected day temperature is 32 °C and from 11th July onwards the expected day temperature is 30 °C. Average night temperature during the period is expected to be 20 °C.
It was also forecast that, at isolated places over the district, there is warning of thunderstorms and lightning very likely on 9th July and heavy rain very likely on 10th and 12th July.
With ensuing heavy rain, KVK has advised farmers to postpone chemical/weedicide spraying and ensure proper drainage in the field. Farmers are also advised to provide mechanical support to crop plants to prevent lodging, and to harvest and secure mature fruits/vegetables.
