KVK Yisemyong holds 18th SAC meeting to strategize agricultural development

The 18th Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) meeting of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Yisemyong, Mokokchung, was held at the ADC Planning Conference Hall on February 13 to discuss strategies for advancing agricultural development in the district.

Delivering the keynote address, Dr Keviletsu Khate, Senior Scientist and Head of KVK Mokokchung, emphasized the pivotal role of KVK in disseminating scientific knowledge and technology to farmers. He highlighted various training programs, capacity-building initiatives, and ongoing agricultural activities conducted by KVK in the district.

The Annual Action Plan (AAP) 2025 was presented by Imtilemla, ACTO (Soil Conservation), detailing the mandated activities, including On-Farm Trials (OFT), Front Line Demonstrations (FLD), training programs, and seedling production across different disciplines of KVK.

The meeting was attended by SAC committee members from various agriculture and allied departments, including the District Agriculture Officer, Mokokchung; Joint Director, SARS Yisemyong, Mokokchung; District Soil Conservation Officer, and officials from the District Veterinary & Animal Husbandry, Horticulture, and Fisheries departments, along with representatives from All India Radio (AIR). The committee members provided valuable suggestions for improving and incorporating new strategies into the Annual Action Plan.

The Chairman of the Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) and District Agriculture Officer, Mokokchung, urged KVK to support farmers in off-season crop production and stressed the importance of increasing biofertilizer production, particularly Azolla, to benefit local farmers.

A significant highlight of the event was the release of a booklet titled “Ethnic Ao Naga Food,” published by KVK Mokokchung, underscoring the center’s commitment to preserving and promoting indigenous agricultural knowledge.

The program was chaired by Khekali Sema, ACTO (Horticulture), while the vote of thanks was delivered by Tokiho Achumi, ACTO (Agronomy).
