The Seyochung Village Students Union has formally requested the District Education Officer of Kiphire, Nagaland, to address the pressing shortage of teachers at the Seyochung Village Government High School. In a letter addressed to the officer, the union highlighted the “dire situation faced by the students” due to the “absence of key teaching staff.”

Currently, the school is without a Headmaster to oversee both administration and academic activities. The union noted, “Furthermore, there are no designated Science and Mathematics teachers, which severely impacts the education of the students, especially those in high school.” The lack of proper language instruction is also a concern, as the school has “only one Hindi teacher, and that too only for the primary section,” leaving higher classes without adequate language support.

The situation has already had serious repercussions, with reports indicating that “a student was compelled to transfer to another school, as there was no teacher available for their academic requirements in high school.” The union expressed fears that “this situation may worsen if immediate action is not taken, affecting the education and future of many more students in the village.”

The Seyochung Village Students Union urged the District Education Officer to “kindly look into the matter and take prompt action to appoint the necessary teachers, including a Headmaster, Science and Mathematics teachers, and Hindi teachers for both the primary and high school sections.” The union emphasized that such action would ensure that students receive the quality education they deserve.
