A State Level Literary Competition was held at the Multipurpose Hall ‘A’, IG Stadium Kohima on 27th May 2022 with Secretary, Youth Resources & Sports, Wezope Kenye, IAS as the special guest.
Kenye, while delivering a short speech at the event, said that illiteracy is not a social or cultural defect and that it is a solvable problem. “Literacy is a necessary tool to break harsh social cycles,” he said, adding the main purpose of celebrating the day was to bring awareness about literacy so that everyone knows about their individual and social rights.
Kenye further mentioned that literacy has become an important factor in leading a good life in the contemporary age. He requested the participants to use their gift of knowledge in making the world a better place and to celebrate their abilities.
There were two competitions on the day – essay writing competition and quiz. In the essay writing competition, the first prize was bagged by Angel Roukhau (Kohima), the second prize by Rongsenienla (Mokokchung), and the third prize by Tsukholü Therie (Phek). In the quiz competition, Rongsenkaba and Lanusanen Longkumer from Mokokchung won the first position. All the three winners were from Ladybird School, Mokokchung.
Meanwhile, the Office of the District Sports and Youth Resources, on Saturday, felicitated Lanusanen Longkumer & Rongsenkaba for winning 1st position (Quiz) and Ronsenienla Longkumer, 2nd position (Essay), in the State Level Literary Competition. All three students are from Ladybird School, Mokokchung and were accompanied to Kohima by Rongsentoshi Jamir, a staff of DSO, Mokokchung, as team manager.
