We live in a society so rotten with corruption that morality has become extinct. People wander shamelessly in search of easy money and selfish gain, quick to grovel before the powerful and the wealthy, yet utterly incapable of confronting the corrupt. Integrity has no place here. Honesty is a burden, virtue is a liability, and those who attempt to uphold principles are punished while bootlickers thrive. A society that will sell its conscience to the highest bidder; that will surrender to any display of money or influence; that will willingly be silenced, no matter how blatant the injustice. A society completely bankrupt of integrity.
A society that deliberately turns a blind eye to corruption in offices, public work, leadership, and every layer of daily life. A society where honesty is no longer a virtue but a liability, courage is irrelevant, and even the smallest acts of decency are swallowed by collective rot. There is no hunger for accountability, no hope for reform, no belief that the system can ever change, and no aspiration to rise above its own decay. The conscience has been bought and sold so often that it lies in tatters, abandoned and defiled.
Hypocrisy rules. Selfishness has become the only currency of success. Some loudly decry unfairness but become mute when given the opportunity to participate in it. Truth is silenced, and made irrelevant. In such a place, what is the point of a small newspaper trying to remain honest, principled, and noble?
There is no redemption, no awakening, and no hope. What remains is a hollow society, shameless and decadent, where morality has perished and decay reigns unchallenged. Lamentation is the only fitting response, for the soul of this society is dead and the stench of corruption soars to the heavens.
