Dimapur, 22 September (MTNews): The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) General Manager, Chetan Kumar Srivastava, during his visit to Dimapur, expressed concern over the encroachment of railway land, which is causing delays in the timely execution of the train station project in the area.

Srivastava revealed that the central government has allocated Rs 280 crore for the Dimapur rail station project and called for cooperation from all stakeholders to ensure uninterrupted progress.

He also expressed optimism that the state capital Kohima would be connected by rail by 2026 and noted that the state government had been informed about the issue of land encroachment.

Prem Ranjan Kumar, the Divisional Railway Manager of Lumding, emphasized the role of the state government in clearing illegal settlers from railway land. He mentioned that this issue had been raised during a recent visit by the Minister of State for Railways, Darshana Jardosh. Following this visit, the government established a High-Powered Committee with the task of identifying and addressing encroachments.
