With concerted efforts by the contractors under the supervision of the PWD (NH) and assisted by the Longsa Village Council, the landslide on 14 km of NH 202 has been cleared, and the highway was reopened to traffic on Saturday.
It may be noted that a major landslide had blocked the highway, leaving several vehicles stranded since August 25. Most of the stranded vehicles were commercial trucks bound for Tuensang, Noklak, and Shamator districts.
The Deputy Commissioner of Tuensang initially restricted travel along the route for two days to allow for clearing the landslide debris but later extended the restriction for another day until Friday, as the restoration work remained incomplete. The SDO of PWD (NH) Chare sub-division confirmed on Saturday that the road is now open.
