Power supply across parts of Mon district has been disrupted after heavy rainfall triggered damage to the 66kV Naginimora-Tizit transmission line, the Transmission Division, Mokokchung, said on Monday.

According to Executive Engineer Er. Hekaito Assumi, an earth fault developed on the transmission line near Tiru village at around 4.30 am on July 19 following incessant rainfall.

The department said restoration work could not begin immediately due to severe flooding, landslides and disruption of road connectivity. After intensive line patrolling and with the assistance of local residents, officials were able to identify the fault location.

While assessment and repair work was underway, another major setback occurred at around 1 pm on Monday when a massive landslide snapped the transmission conductor between Tower Nos. 7 and 8 near Naginimora town.
The department said it is making all possible efforts to assess the extent of the damage and restore power supply at the earliest.
Consumers under the Tizit and Mon sections have been requested to bear with the inconvenience while restoration work is being expedited.
