uniting humanity in a time of crisis
In the face of adversity, there are moments that define us as human beings. “Last Day on Earth: A Concert of Hope” is one such moment—a beacon of compassion, solidarity, and support for those facing challenging times. Organized by a group led by Khriebu Zhasa from Nagaland, this charitable concert aims to bring together people from all walks of life to make a positive impact in the lives of those who have been affected by recent hardships, particularly the riots in Manipur. The event, set to take place at imagi.LAND in Kisama on August 5, 2023, promises to be a day of music, unity, and hope.
The inspiration
The genesis of this noble endeavor lies in the hearts of those who witnessed the aftermath of the riots in Manipur. Among them, Khriebu Zhasa, hailing from Nagaland, couldn’t bear to see friends who had fled from Manipur struggling to rebuild their lives from scratch. Moved by their plight, he and his family tried to extend their help as much as they could. The idea of a charity concert emerged during a conversation with his sister, who envisioned a day of music and solidarity to work towards better times. Thus, the seed was sown, and “Last Day on Earth: A Concert of Hope” was born.
The Young Tribal Women’s Network (YTWN)
With the aim of making a lasting impact, the concert partnered with the Young Tribal Women’s Network (YTWN), a community-led initiative of women from Manipur and neighboring states. Founded in the wake of the violence that shook Manipur, YTWN has been actively involved in providing crisis evaluation and response, as well as essential aid such as rations, medical assistance, and financial support to displaced families within Manipur. The organization has also coordinated admission assistance for the children of displaced families and initiated after-school supplementary programs. YTWN’s relentless efforts have garnered the support of likeminded individuals and organizations, making them the ideal partner for this concert of hope.
The journey towards hope
The path towards organizing this grand event was not without challenges. The dedicated team at Lastdayonearth (LDOE) embraced the cause wholeheartedly and began reaching out to artists, friends, and organizations, seeking support for their noble mission.
Finding a suitable venue partner was crucial, and imagi.LAND stepped up to the plate, providing the perfect stage for the concert of hope. Meanwhile, the team at Lastdayonearth and imagi.LAND collaborated tirelessly, putting together a seamless event timeline to ensure an unforgettable experience for attendees.
