Lawyer suspended for suppressing his profession as a Government school teacher in Kohima

Mokokchung, September 1 (MTNews): The Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry in a notification dated September 1, 2022 suspended the practice of six lawyers considering their involvement in various offences. Of six, one P. Rajendran Vilai was suspended for suppressing the fact that he was working as a science teacher in a Government School in Kohima for the past 23 years at the time of enrollment.

The notification issued a prohibitory order against the advocates from practicing in any court, tribunals, or any other authorities. The resolution has also been communicated to the registry of the Supreme Court and all the High Courts in India. It has also been forwarded to all the district courts, tribunals, Labour Courts, Chief Secretary to Government, both Secretaries of Law and Home department, Director General of Police, Commissioner of the police and members of the bar council.

 

Among the other five, three advocates had criminal charges pending against them with one being prosecuted under the Act. The other two lawyers had threatened certain individuals to grant recognition to their Inhabitants Puducherry Advocates’ Welfare Association.
