The Soyim Gazetted Officers’ Association (SGOA) organized a leadership capacity building seminar at Mount Moriah School Auditorium, Ungma village, Mokokchung on 12 October for leaders of various institutions and organizations in the village.

The resource persons for the seminar were Limatemsu, Senior Treasury Officer, Kohima who spoke on Financial Record Keeping & Personal Financial Management and Dr Limasenla Jamir, Asst. Prof. Fazl Ali College, who spoke on RTI & Official communications.

Limatemsu while delivering his talk explained about the various branches of accounting, objectives and advantages of accounting, and the fundamental concepts and principles of accounting. He also spoke on personal finance management where he stressed on how to manage one’s finances through investments, loans, and creating depreciation accounts. He also mentioned about the right time for making investments and on the advantages of taking loans.

Dr. Limasenla Jamir on the other hand educated the participants on what is RTI and the key uses of RTI. While talking about Official communications, she mentioned about the various mediums through which official communications are done like letters, emails, website portals, telephonic communications, press releases, legal notices, meetings and minutes, reports etc. various ways on how these official communications can be done were also shared.

The keynote address was delivered by R. Longritemjen Ao, Rtd. Asst. Labour Commisioner, who said that the seminar on leadership building is a need for all organizations and institutions to function better. He said that there is a difference in knowing things and understanding things and that only when we understand and do things, we become innovative and better leaders. He said that the seminar will help in equipping the leaders of the day with up-to-date knowledge on the mentioned topics of discussion.

The seminar was attended by office bearers and members of the Ungma village council, Ungma Baptist Church, Ungma Senso Mungdang, UBA Youth Ministry, Sports Society Soyim, Soyim Students’ Union, Teachers’ Association Ungma, Ungmatsür Telongjem and members of SGOA.

The President SGOA Dr Rongsensusang, Asst Chief Technical Officer, KVK gave the opening address while the vote of thanks was given by Asasoba Jamir, SDO, PWD (NH), Asst. gen. Secy., SGOA.
