The Kiphire District Administration and NagaEd have concluded the Learning Enhancement and Accessibility Project (LEAP), a three-year digital education initiative that reached more than 1,200 students and 35 Mathematics and Science teachers across 15 schools in the district.
Implemented from June 2023 to June 2026 under NITI Aayog’s Aspirational Districts Programme, the project aimed to address gaps in digital infrastructure, teacher capacity and access to learning resources.
At the project’s conclusion, 96% of participating teachers reported regularly using digital learning resources in their classrooms, while 91% said the initiative improved the quality of education. Teachers also reported increased confidence in using digital tools, with an average self-rating of 8.3 out of 10.
All 15 participating schools, comprising nine government and six private schools, were equipped with Smart TVs, connectivity solutions and access to NagaEd’s Digital Class platform. More than 1,400 curriculum-aligned Mathematics and Science resources for Classes 9 and 10 were developed.
The project also provided continuous professional development through mentoring, refresher training, on-site coaching and a dedicated WhatsApp support group.
Government High School, Yangphi, Mathematics teacher Daniel Sechopi Sangtam said classrooms had become “more interactive” compared with traditional teaching methods.
The initiative also responded to challenges posed by unreliable connectivity and power supply. Offline resources, including video lessons, presentations and practice materials, were provided through pen drives and printed assessments.
Kiphire Deputy Commissioner Temsuwati Longkumer said LEAP had strengthened digital infrastructure, teacher confidence and learning opportunities, adding that the resources and systems created through the partnership would continue supporting schools.
Although the project has concluded, participating teachers will retain free access to NagaEd’s Digital Class platform and offline teaching resources.
