A “SPARSH Leprosy Awareness Campaign” under the National Leprosy Eradication Programme (NLEP) was successfully conducted at Khelma on April 28, 2025.


The programme was chaired by Pehiareudi Zeliang, PMW, who also delivered the keynote address, highlighting the causes, symptoms, prevention, and treatment of leprosy. Somaya, Senior PMW, spoke on the significance of early detection and outlined various activities carried out under NLEP in the district.

Following the awareness session, a mini health camp was organized, where free IEC materials were distributed to the participants. The event aimed to dispel myths surrounding leprosy and promote early treatment and care.

The programme began with an invocation by Ngimwang, Pastor of Zeme Baptist Church, Khelma. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Rosina, PMW.
