According to folklore, Lijaba – the creator of earth in Ao Naga mythology – once came to the village of Akhoya. It is said that two sisters, Nüngjangsangla and Alala gave shelter to Lijaba and he blessed them with a bountiful harvest in return. The monument seen here is called ‘Tsüngrem sabang’ or ‘God’s platform’, the place where Lijaba rested. Akhoya village will host the 69th General Conference of the Ao Students’ Conference from January 18 to 20. (MTNews)
