Nagaland’s Limasunep, aka The Naga Zombie, is set to face undefeated Russian prospect Sunatullo Azizov in a flyweight bout at Matrix Fight Night (MFN) 15 on August 31 in Noida, New Delhi. Matrix Fight Night is a professional organization based in India, run by Tiger Shroff and his family.

Speaking to MT, Sunep expressed confidence in the upcoming fight, stating, “By the grace of God, everything went well,” adding that his training camp had “no injuries,” and his weight cut has been going well so far.

“My opponent is from Russia and is a good fighter, so I am excited to be in the cage with him,” he said. Azizov, his opponent, is an undefeated Russian fighter from Perm, Russia, and will undoubtedly be Sunep’s toughest challenge to date.

Discussing his game plan, Sunep said, “I made some mistakes in my past fights that led to my losses, so I’ve tried to adjust those mistakes. I’ll be calm and composed, regardless of anything, which will be the key to victory.”

Sunep also shared how his last fight, a win over Magesh Sapte in the Bidang Fighting Championship earlier this year, boosted his confidence and motivated him to work even harder to improve as a fighter.

“Winning feels amazing and it’s like dopamine; it gives me pleasure, satisfaction, and motivation,” he said.

It’s worth noting that Sunep shifted his training camp from Dimapur’s ‘The Combat Academy’ to Gurgaon’s ‘Warrior Cove Gym’ earlier this year. When asked whether this move had benefited him, Sunep said, “I have two families now – The Combat Academy and Warrior Cove. Both have given me so much knowledge. I’ve been training in Gurgaon since March of this year, and it’s amazing. I’ve been training with lots of professionals and champions, and my head coach here, Sir Ashwin, is a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. He is very experienced, so training here has benefited me in every way.”

Speaking on what a win in Saturday’s match means to him, Sunep said, “I’ve given my blood, sweat, and tears and gone through hell for this game, which I love the most.”

“Right now, I’m fighting in the biggest promotion in India, and a win will be one step closer to fighting in the biggest promotions in the world,” he added.
