The Governor of Nagaland, exercising powers under Section 10(3) and 22(4) of the Nagaland Municipal Act 2023, has appointed Government Nominee Members to several Municipal and Town Councils across the state.
According to Section 10(4) and 22(5) of the Nagaland Municipal Act 2023, the appointed members “shall have the right to attend and speak at meetings of respective Municipal/ Town Councils but shall have no right to vote, and their tenure shall be co-terminus with the ULBs (Urban Local Bodies).”
The following individuals have been appointed as Government Nominees for the respective councils in Mokokchung district:
For Mokokchung Municipal Council, the nominees are M.Bendangnukshi Longkumer, Toshiakum Jamir, Wapangnaro Pongen, Limanungsang Kichu, Hemant Rai, and Tsukti Longkumer.
For Changtongya Town Council, the appointed nominees are Tia Imkong, Nokjenyangla, S. Chuba Longkumer, and Tiatemjen.
For Mangkolemba Town Council, the nominated members are Jungshilemba, Imtinungba, and Imkongtoshi.
For Tuli Town Council, the Government Nominee Members include T. Meyitiba Longkumer, Ben Moa, and I. Temsu Wati.
