DIPR to lead single-window system, making it easier to host concerts, festivals and youth events across the State
Nagaland has moved to formally recognized live entertainment as an economic sector, with the Department of Information & Public Relations (DIPR) appointed as the nodal department to implement the ‘Execution Framework for the Development and Promotion of the Live Entertainment Economy in the State’.
The move aligns Nagaland with India’s national agenda to streamline, digitalize, and professionalize the live-events sector – a market valued at over Rs 20,800 crore in FY25 and projected to double by 2030, according to the White Paper “India’s Live Events Economy: A Strategic Growth Imperative.”
At the national level, the Information & Broadcasting Ministry is developing a Single Window Clearance platform where organizers across India can check venue details, review capacity limits, verify pre-cleared licenses, and secure final approvals within 15 days. The initiative is led by the Live Events Development Cell, a joint working group including central ministries, nine state governments, and key industry bodies.
Under Nagaland’s framework, DIPR will coordinate State-level approvals and integrate them into the proposed Single Window Clearance System on the India Cine Hub Portal, aiming to reduce bureaucratic delays and improve transparency for organizers of concerts, festivals, youth events, and cultural showcases.
Chief Secretary Sentiyanger Imchen, IAS, said the department will work closely with all relevant line ministries to consolidate approvals, making it easier for promoters, creators, musicians, and event managers to operate.
According to a DIPR report, the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to professionalizing Nagaland’s creative and cultural industries, attracting investment, and generating new economic opportunities.
By formalising the sector and linking it to the national system, the State hopes to empower local talent, support creative enterprises, and position Nagaland as a destination for high-quality cultural and entertainment events, turning its vibrant cultural life into a growing economic engine.
