The National Executive Meeting of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) was held in New Delhi on Monday, with senior party leaders and representatives deliberating on organisational, political and developmental matters.
The meeting was attended by Dr Sukhato A Sema, MLA and Leader of the Legislature Party, LJP (Ram Vilas), Nagaland; Naiba Konyak, MLA and Chief Whip; and Viloto Pukhato, State President of the party’s Nagaland unit.
Speaking at the meeting, National Secretary S Richard Humtsoe highlighted the importance of the Look East Policy initiated under former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao and its subsequent transformation into the Act East Policy under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said the policy had expanded its focus to connectivity, commerce, security and strategic partnerships with Southeast and East Asia.
Humtsoe said the Act East Policy presented a significant opportunity for the Northeast, particularly Nagaland, to convert its geographical proximity to Southeast Asia into an economic and strategic advantage. He urged the party to promote greater connectivity, cross-border trade, tourism, agriculture and food processing, while ensuring the meaningful integration of the Northeast into the country’s Act East framework.
“Nagaland can and must emerge as a vital bridge between India and Southeast Asia,” Humtsoe said.
He expressed confidence that under the leadership of LJP (Ram Vilas) National President and Union Cabinet Minister Chirag Paswan, the party would continue to articulate the aspirations of the Northeast and strengthen its role in the national discourse.
Addressing the meeting, Nagaland State President Viloto Pukhato expressed appreciation for Paswan’s leadership and said the party was moving forward with renewed strength, discipline and commitment while carrying forward the legacy and ideals of its founder, Ram Vilas Paswan.
Pukhato also appealed to Paswan to facilitate the early release of the first instalment for food processing industries in Nagaland. He said timely support to the sector would help generate employment, promote entrepreneurship and contribute to making the state’s unemployed youth economically self-reliant.
On behalf of the Nagaland State Unit, Pukhato assured the national president of its full cooperation and commitment to strengthening the party organisation, particularly across the Northeast. He also expressed gratitude for Paswan’s guidance, trust and continued support to Nagaland.
