Lok Janshakti Party (Ramvilas) National Secretary S Richard Humtsoe has appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to accelerate the implementation of India’s Act East Policy, stressing its strategic and developmental importance for the Northeast.
In a formal letter addressed to the Prime Minister through Union Minister Chirag Paswan, Humtsoe said the policy holds significant potential to boost connectivity, trade, infrastructure and employment across the region, positioning the Northeast as India’s gateway to Southeast and East Asia.
While acknowledging progress made so far, he noted that delays in infrastructure development, cross-border connectivity and investment facilitation continue to hinder the policy’s full potential. He called for stronger inter-ministerial coordination, time-bound project execution and deeper engagement with state governments and local stakeholders.
The appeal also highlighted the need to view the Northeast as a strategic region and advocated for stronger economic integration with ASEAN and a more proactive Indian role in the Indo-Pacific.
