The Langpangkong Students’ Conference (LKM) has urged the Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung to address concerns over the “poor workmanship” of the KKB Rulho Construction Company, which is responsible for the ongoing two-lane construction in the Langpangkong range under Mokokchung district. The LKM has set a deadline of July 30, 2024, for the administration to act on these issues. Otherwise, the LKM said, they will proceed with their own course of action.
The Langpangkong range has a history of prioritizing road development since ancient times, with the community being united in this endeavour. The people of Langpangkong have never demanded land compensation during the construction of the National Highway and have remained as a “taxation free zone.” Along with Langpangkong Tzukong Mungdang Road Coordination Committee (LTMRCC), the Langpangkong Students’ Conference Road Coordination Committee (LKMRCC) have been supportive of companies operating within their range, the LKM maintained.
The LKM added that despite numerous requests to the KKB Rulho Construction Company to adhere to the project’s Detailed Project Report (DPR) and work systematically, there has been no improvement in their work quality.
“As a result, local residents and commuters are facing significant challenges due to the poor workmanship. After failed negotiations with the company and project officials, the conference has decided to escalate the matter to the Administration for intervention before the specified deadline,” it added.
