The East Zone Inter-University Women’s Table Tennis Tournament was held at Nagaland University, Lumami, from October 26 to 30, 2026. Lalit Narayan Mithila University (LNMU), Darbhanga, won the championship, while the University of North Bengal finished as runners-up.
Four universities qualified for the All-India Inter-University Women’s Table Tennis Tournament 2026: LNMU, Manipur University, Jadavpur University and the University of North Bengal. The national tournament is scheduled to be held at Adamas University, Kolkata, from December 27 to 31, 2026.
Addressing the participants, Director RDC and Vice-Chancellor (in-charge) Prof. Bendang Ao thanked the volunteers and Sports Section for their dedication in organising the tournament. Congratulating the winners and encouraging the other participants, he commended their sportsmanship and urged them to continue refining their skills and working on their weaknesses. Sharing a personal anecdote about learning from defeat, he said every competitor was a champion. He also wished the visiting players a safe journey home and highlighted Nagaland’s hospitality and welcoming spirit.
Deputy Director of Sports Dr. Harish Kumar Tiwari welcomed the gathering and presented a brief report on the competition. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Assistant Director of Sports Dr. Mesanguto Meru.
