Mokokchung, 13 May (MTNews): A total of 177 cases out of 198 were disposed off today during the National Lok Adalat sitting conducted across the state’s districts by the respective District Legal Services Authorities (DLSA) under the aegis of the Nagaland State Legal Services Authority.

According to a press note received from the PRA, NSLSA, the total settlement amount was for Rs 2,89, 07,043. In the sitting, disputes/matters/cases listed for compromise settlement included cases in pending as well as in pre-litigation stage mostly in the category of bank recovery, criminal compoundable cases, Motor Accident Cases Tribunal (MACT) and other cases such as public utility.

 

Mokokchung DLSA conducted the National Lok adalat at District Court. WV Patton, secretary, MDLSA was the presiding officer. Out of 20 cases taken up, all 20 were disposed. 19 were under pre-litigation case and 1 pending litigation (money suit) with a total settlement amount of Rs 28, 55,427.

 

Zunheboto DLSA with Julian Sitlhou, Secretary, Zunheboto DLSA as the presiding officer took up 7 pre-litigation bank recovery cases and disposed of 5 cases off with a settlement amount of Rs 11,10,912.
Tuensang DLSA settled nine bank recovery cases with Cheliam Khiamniungan, NJS Secretary Tuensang DLSA as the presiding officer.

 

Wokha DLSA with Nino Iralu, Chairperson WDLSA took up 8 cases including 7 loan /Bank Recovery Cases (Pre-Litigation) and 1 pending trial case where 5 cases were disposed off with a settlement amount of Rs 9,89,240. SBI (2 branches), Bank of Baroda, Central Bank and NStCB participated in the Lok Adalat.

 

Kohima DLSA with Duvelu Vero Chairman Kohima DLSA and Principal District & sessions Judge, Kohima and Wokono Yhoshü, Judicial Magistrate First Class, Kohima as the presiding officers took up around 500 bank recovery, telephone bills and 3 pending cases and a total of 27 cases were settled. The total outstanding amount was Rs 52,72,072 and was settled at Rs. 32,15,655.

 

Dimapur DLSA took up 51 cases and the settlement amount was Rs 1,28,84,087. Kiphire DLSA took up a total of 5 bank loan recovery cases and 3 cases were disposed off with a settlement amount of Rs 37, 59,651.
Phek DLSA disposed off a settlement amount of Rs 21,15,939. Longleng DLSA took up 10 (Loan /Bank Recovery Cases (Pre-Litigation) and the settlement amount was Rs 1,93,806.

Mon DLSA took up 20 cases where 11 of them were disposed off successfully, resulting in a total settled amount of Rs 25,62,375.
