Legal Awareness Program on National Lok Adalat organized in Tseminyu District

Tseminyu, 2 September (MTNews): In collaboration with the District Administration of Tseminyu, the Kohima District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) organized a Legal Awareness program on National Lok Adalat in Tseminyu District.

Dr Tinojongshi Chang, NCS, Deputy Commissioner of Tseminyu, delivered a brief speech during the event, encouraging participants to make use of legal services, especially during the upcoming National Lok Adalat. He also urged them to spread awareness about these services in their respective colonies, villages, and among the people.

Kohima DLSA Panel Lawyer, Mhayani explained that National Lok Adalat is held quarterly each year, primarily for the benefit of the underprivileged and marginalized sections of society. She emphasized its role in providing swift justice, allowing beneficiaries to settle various cases, including civil cases like bank loan recovery, debt recovery, water and electricity bills (excluding theft cases), matrimonial cases, MACT (Motor Accidents Claims Tribunal) cases, petty offense cases, etc. through Lok Adalat without incurring court or advocate fees. These disputes are amicably resolved.

Mhayani also informed participants that Lok Adalat’s decisions are considered decrees of a civil court and are final and binding on all parties, with no appeals allowed. Nonguzo Tase, Panel Lawyer at Kohima DLSA, elaborated on Free Legal Aid Services in the District and its objectives.

EAC Tseminyu Town, Roko Angami NCS, delivered the welcome note.

The program saw attendance from GBs, Chairmen, and Members of the village council in Tseminyu District, as well as youth groups and NGOs in Tseminyu town. The event was chaired by Nagali Shohe, Panel Lawyer at Kohima DLSA, and concluded with a vote of thanks by Keduvi Zhotso, Chief Legal Aid Defense Counsel.

Wow! Thank you! I continually wanted to write on my blog something like that. Can I take a portion of your post to my site?
