The Lok Sabha has approved the statutory resolution for extending President’s Rule in Manipur for a further period of six months, effective from 13th August. Minister of State for Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai, moved the resolution.
Rai informed the House that in the last eight months, only one incident of violence was reported, in which one person lost his life. He added that in the past four months, no incidents of violence have been recorded in Manipur.
Earlier, initiating the discussion, Congress MP Anto Antony alleged that there has been a complete collapse of governance in the state.
After completing the day’s business, the Lower House was adjourned.
