Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Monday attended the program marking the relocation of the EAC Namsang headquarters from Kongshong to Yonglok in Longleng district. Addressing the event, he said the decision responds to long-standing public representations and aims to strengthen administrative reach in remote and border villages, describing it as “a step towards better governance and service delivery.”

In a social media post, Rio noted that changing development needs, population distribution and connectivity considerations have necessitated the relocation.
“The establishment of the Namsang EAC marked an important milestone in admin outreach. However, evolving development needs, population distribution, and connectivity considerations have prompted renewed deliberations on relocating the EAC Hq to a more suitable and accessible location,” Rio stated.
The chief minister also commended the people of Namsang for their active role in shaping the development of the area. “I wish the community continued growth, harmony, and prosperity as they embrace new possibilities for the region,” he said.
Deputy chief minister Y Patton, Namsang Citizen Union president B Patong Phom, MLAs B Bangtick Phom and A Pongshi Phom, Deputy Commissioner Longleng W Manpai Phom, and Phom People’s Council president YB Angam Phom also spoke at the event.
