The deplorable condition of Longnak-Mangkolemba road has been causing numerous difficulties to the people of Mangkolemba sub-division under Mokokchung district. The road is considered a lifeline for the entire region of Mangkolemba.
In response to this pressing issue, a meeting was convened on 4 September 2023 at the Mangkolemba ADC’s office chamber. The meeting involved representatives from the administration, including the Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) and the Executive Engineer (PWD), as well as community representatives from the Mangkolemba subdivision, represented by the Civil Society Organization Mangkolemba (CSOM).
Wapongtoshi, General Secretary of CSO Mangkolemba, informed that during the meeting, the Executive Engineer (PWD R&B) expressed the department’s commitment to initiate work on the Longnak-Mangkolemba road project. Additionally, the EE (PWD) assured that the project’s progress would be diligently monitored, with updates provided by the concerned contractor every 15 days.
On the other hand, the CSO, representing the aspirations and concerns of the local community, stressed the urgent necessity for the road project to commence and set the 10th of September 2023 as the deadline. In the event of non-compliance, CSO said it would take further steps to address their demands.
