Longpa, 27 May (MTNews): A felicitation program was organized in Longpa village of Mokokchung, the native village of the Advisor Moatoshi Longkumer, who represents Dimapur II A/C. The event took place on 26 May and was attended by members of the Longpa village council and villagers.

Expressing his gratitude for the felicitation program, Advisor Moatoshi Longkumer attributed his success to God’s grace and the unwavering support and prayers of the Naga people, particularly his fellow villagers in Longpa. He acknowledged the simplicity and humility of the people in Longpa, considering it an honor, while cautioning against excessive simplicity that may limit progress.
During the program, the Advisor shared his plans to introduce a ‘skill mobile morung’ in the village to impart skills on food processing and carpentry to enhance people’s value addition. The objective is to reduce dependence on traditional income sources like tapioca and sericulture by fostering skill development and encouraging the production of quality goods.
“Don’t take the training for name sake, if we are skilled and produce quality products, we can have a sustainable livelihood, because there is a demand for quality products,” he said.
The Advisor also provided an update on the ongoing construction of the ITI building in Longleng District. Despite delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, he assured the gathering that the project would be completed within the next month or two.
Several dignitaries and representatives from various organizations, including Longpa Putu, Longpa Baptist Church, Longpa Union Mokokchung, and Longpa Union Dimapur, delivered short speeches during the felicitation program.
Moatoshi Longkumer, the first MLA from Longpa, contested the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly Election in 2018 on an NPF ticket, representing Dimapur II A/C. He was re-elected from the same constituency in 2023, this time on an NDPP ticket.
