The Longphaoh Citizens’ Forum has strongly and unequivocally condemned the “heinous and cold-blooded murder” of Manwang Leipha, a serving military personnel of the Naga political group NSCN-GPRN (YA), who was brutally killed at his residence on January 23, 2026, in the presence of his family at Tizit village under Mon district, Nagaland.

In a condemnation note, the forum stated that the incident has “deeply shocked the conscience of society” and described it as a “grave assault on humanity, law, and the dignity of life.” It further said that the trauma inflicted on the family, who were forced to witness the killing, is “beyond words” and deserves strong condemnation.

The forum noted that the incident comes at a time when the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO) and the Konyak Union (KU) are “earnestly engaged in resolving the Naga political issue” and have passed resolutions calling for an end to all bloodshed. Such acts of violence, it said, “defy the call of the people,” not only robbing a family of a loved one but also threatening peace and security in society.

Expressing solidarity with the bereaved family, the Longphaoh Citizens’ Forum reiterated its commitment to justice, peace, and the rule of law. It demanded an “immediate, just, and thorough investigation” by the appropriate law enforcement agencies and called upon all NGOs and “right-thinking citizens” to extend support in bringing the perpetrators to justice.

“Silence in the face of such brutality would only embolden further acts of violence, which must not be tolerated in any civilized society,” the forum stated.
