The Losami Drivers’ Union (LDU) held its 32nd general session on December 26 at Ledepfu, Losami village, under Phek district.

Gracing the session as the opening guest, Wepe Mekrisuh, chairman of the Kohima Losami Union, lauded the LDU for completing 32 years and for undertaking various welfare activities for its members and the community at large.
The LDU was founded by Neipetsu Akami on December 26, 1992. Currently, the Union has 220 members.
Mekrisuh highlighted that drivers play a crucial role in socio-economic development. He urged the drivers to maintain proper driving etiquette and emphasized the need to stay updated with the latest gadgets in the driving sector.
He also encouraged drivers to be well-versed in road safety rules and practice safe driving. “We should always stay alert, be sincere, honest, and courteous,” he advised.
Furthermore, Mekrisuh called upon the LDU to establish a motor workshop along the two-lane highway between Phek and Pfutsero, stating that such an initiative would benefit vehicle users and create job opportunities for youth.
Earlier, LDU president Kewekhazo Tsido delivered the presidential address. The session was chaired by LDU general secretary Wewuhi Akami.
Wenyi Mebou, Pastor of Losa Tephe Baptist Church, invoked God’s blessings, while a welcome song was presented by Emhechebiu Kepfoh.
The vote of thanks was proposed by KDU vice president Neikupe K. Tara, and Neikotsolo Mekrisuh, Chairman of CPC, pronounced blessings.
In the second session, LDU joint secretary Khronipe K. Tara presented the Union’s activities, while the finance report was delivered by finance secretary Chewu Khesoh.
The session concluded with a benediction by Kewekha Lohe.
Meanwhile, Kewekhazo Tsido was re-elected as the president of the LDU, with Mechepe Khamo as general secretary, among others.
