The Lotha Students’ Union (LSU) has thrown its weight behind the press release issued by the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) on 11 May 2024 regarding the upcoming Urban Local Body (ULB) elections in Nagaland.

The NSF’s press release advocated for the reservation of ULB election seats exclusively for Indigenous Nagas, emphasizing the principle of “Naga by blood, not by adoption.” Furthermore, the NSF called for the exclusion of women married to non-locals, along with their offspring, from contesting in the ULB elections.

Fully endorsing the NSF’s stance, the LSU recognized the importance of safeguarding the interests and aspirations of the Indigenous Naga people. The LSU asserted that such measures are essential in preserving the cultural identity and integrity of the Naga community.

Consequently, the LSU has directed all constituent units to cooperate fully on this matter and to actively support and promote the stance advocated by the NSF. The LSU called upon all members to unite in upholding the values and principles that define them as Indigenous Naga people.
