The Naga Army on Saturday formally installed Lt Gen. Honreishang Shadang, MSM, MC, as the new Longvibu (Commander-in-Chief) following a ceremonial handover held at the General Headquarters (GHQ). He succeeds General Ningkhan Shimray, MC, VC, who retired after 45 years of service.

General Shimray, regarded as one of the organization’s most prominent military leaders, served as Longvibu for the past eight years. He was accorded a grand military guard of honor as he walked past the red carpet during the farewell ceremony.
The handing and taking over of command was presided over by Keya Kilonser Zeneituo James Pienyu, in the presence of dignitaries and senior army officers at the GHQ Church. Pastor Diginbou offered prayers of blessing and submission for both the outgoing and incoming Longvibu.
