Nagaland welcomed a 35-member delegation from Madhya Pradesh, including 28 students and 7 officials, under the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (EBSB) programme of Samagra Shiksha, aimed at promoting national integration, cultural exchange, and peer learning. The team, led by Dr. Mahesh Jain, Joint Director of Samagra Shiksha Madhya Pradesh, arrived in Nagaland on 24th November 2025.

Madhya Pradesh students visit Nagaland under EBSB, explore culture and education

The delegation received an orientation from Samagra Shiksha Nagaland officials, introducing them to the state’s educational priorities, cultural heritage, and the broader objectives of the EBSB initiative. This set the stage for an immersive tour exposing students to Nagaland’s traditions, academic environment, and community-led initiatives.

On 25th November, the visitors explored key cultural and historical landmarks, beginning with Khonoma Village, Asia’s first “Green Village.” Here, students learned about the Angami community’s conservation practices, traditional agriculture, and wildlife protection efforts. Interaction with local youth leaders and eco-guides provided firsthand insights into how indigenous knowledge shapes sustainable living.

The group also visited the Nagaland State Museum, where exhibits of tribal artefacts, traditional tools, and costumes highlighted the state’s rich cultural diversity. A stop at Kohima Cathedral Church gave students a glimpse into Nagaland’s spiritual and architectural heritage.

Educational interactions formed a core part of the program. At Rüzhükhrie Government Higher Secondary School on 26th November, students attended the morning assembly, engaged with peers, and observed academic and science classroom activities. The delegation also visited TM Government Higher Secondary School for cultural and sports exchanges, including kho-kho, traditional Madhya Pradesh games, tug-of-war, and Naga dances, fostering camaraderie across state lines.

The visit included a historical component with a trip to Kohima War Cemetery, where the students paid respects to soldiers who fell during the Battle of Kohima. The solemn experience highlighted Nagaland’s importance in global wartime history.

Before their departure, the delegation is scheduled to visit the Nagaland Bamboo Resource Centre in Dimapur on 27th November, learning about bamboo innovation, skill development programs, and initiatives promoting sustainable livelihoods.

Samagra Shiksha Nagaland said the tour embodied the spirit of national unity by encouraging cultural appreciation, knowledge sharing, and meaningful interactions. The program provided students from Madhya Pradesh an opportunity to experience Nagaland’s heritage while exchanging ideas and cultural practices, strengthening ties between the two states.
