The Mangkolemba Town Council, along with volunteers, conducted a cleanliness and public awareness drive in the surrounding jungle areas of Mangkolemba on September 26, collecting more than 800 discarded liquor bottles from different locations.
According to an update from Limasenla Jamir, Councillor, Mangkolemba Town Council, the collected bottles included 666 quarter bottles of Mc Rum, five full bottles of Mc Rum, 22 quarter bottles of AC Black, 15 quarter bottles of Iconiq Whisky and 104 Kingfisher beer bottles.
The bottles were disposed of on September 28 in the presence and participation of Social Concern members, all Ward Chairmen, Watsü and the Mangkolemba Student Union.
According to the Town Council, the initiative was aimed at discouraging alcohol consumption and the improper disposal of liquor bottles in the surrounding jungle areas, while promoting a cleaner and safer environment.
The Council said the drive was undertaken as a shared community responsibility and sought to raise public awareness about maintaining cleanliness in and around Mangkolemba.
