The Department of Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship successfully concluded a two-week-long “Skill Development for Rural Women through Mobile Skill Morung” training in the job role of Baking from 2nd to 14th September 2024 at Mangkolemba, where 25 rural women successfully completed the training. The successful candidates were awarded certificates along with toolkits.

The culmination event was presided over by Marsenla Longkumer from the District Employment Exchange/Model Career Centre, Mokokchung, while the program commenced with an invocation by the Associate Pastor of Mangkolemba Baptist Church, L Watinaro.

In his remarks, Tiamoa Tzudir of Pinnacle Skills highlighted the importance of not only providing training but also equipping participants with the necessary toolkits to foster sustainable livelihoods. He encouraged the participants to hone their baking skills, form groups, and work toward establishing a brand.

Achetla Longchari, one of the participants, expressed her gratitude to the department and Pinnacle Skills for the valuable training and support.

The Chairman of Mangkolemba Town Council (MTC), Supong Longkumer, congratulated the participants on completing the training. He encouraged them to ensure that the taste of their cakes reaches every corner of the area and to consider starting new business ventures.

The program concluded with closing remarks from T Yimlikhumzuk, the District Employment Officer (DEO) of Mokokchung, who emphasized that baking is a promising business opportunity. DEO Mokokchung thanked all the individuals who contributed to making the training programme a success. He also extended special thanks to the Mangkolemba Administration, led by ADC Mangkolemba Moakumzuk (NCS), and the MTC Councilors, led by Chairman Supong Longkumer.

This training initiative reflects the department’s commitment to empowering rural women by equipping them with marketable skills that can support entrepreneurship and economic self-sufficiency, a press release from DPRO Mokokchung said.
