The Manipur Police have strongly denied the claims made by the NSCN-IM regarding Ukhrul District Superintendent of Police (SP), accusing him of aiding Kuki militants. In a statement issued on Sunday, the police described the allegations as “blatantly false” and refuted the accusations in a press release published by the NSCN-IM.

The Manipur Police clarified that the Ukhrul District Police had acted in line with requests from the Border Security Force (BSF) and Kangpokpi District Police, as well as instructions from the Police Headquarters. The police stated that on December 12, 2024, Ukhrul District Police provided police guides to a BSF team traveling to Molham Kuki Village. On December 19, the police also provided security escorts for trucks carrying laborers and materials for the construction of security barracks in the village, which are intended to house BSF companies. “Posting or publishing such unverified facts is wrong and tarnishes the image of the Ukhrul District Police and the reputation of the SP,” the statement read.

The NSCN-IM in a press release had claimed that the Ukhrul SP and the central government were colluding with Kuki militants in Molham Kuki Village. The insurgent group accused the central government of providing logistics and material support to Kuki militants and alleged that millions of rupees had been funneled to them in the past. They described the incident as “just the tip of the iceberg.”
