The Chief Electoral Officer of Manipur announced on Saturday the decision to conduct repolling in 11 polling stations in the Inner Manipur Lok Sabha constituency on Monday from 7 am to 5 pm.

Reports of firing, intimidation, and destruction of EVMs, along with allegations of booth capturing, surfaced from conflict-hit Manipur during the polling. The polling saw a turnout of 72 percent in both the Inner Manipur and Outer Manipur constituencies on Friday.

Earlier, the Congress had demanded repolling in 47 polling stations, citing allegations of booth capturing and election rigging.

Manipur Congress president K Meghachandra stated that the party had lodged a complaint with the Chief Electoral Officer, urging repolling in 36 polling stations in the Inner Manipur constituency and 11 in the Outer Manipur constituency.

Manipur went for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections on Friday. Voting was held in all 32 assembly segments of the Inner Manipur parliamentary constituency and 15 assembly segments of the Outer Manipur (ST) parliamentary constituency.
