The United Naga Council (UNC) has issued a notification debarring three individuals from participating in public platforms or holding any leadership positions within Naga society for a period of seven years. The decision follows Resolution No. 1 adopted during an emergency assembly held on May 29, 2024, at Town Hall, Panchai in Chandel district, Manipur.

According to the notification issued by UNC today, the individuals affected are Kho John of the Poumai tribe, Dr. Allyson Abonmai of the Liangmai tribe, and Alfred Kangnam Arthur of the Tangkhul tribe. The UNC stated that these individuals “purposively defied and failed to respect and honour” the position of the United Naga Council during the recently concluded 18th Lok Sabha General Election, 2024. They were accused of “willful attempt to challenge the Naga peoples’ position and its spirit of unity.”
