The Department of Higher Education, Nagaland, has written to the Vice-Chancellor of Nagaland University (NU) urging immediate intervention in light of widespread concerns over the recently declared undergraduate even semester results under the FYUGP/CBCS system.

In an official letter dated July 21, 2025, Ex-Officio Director of Higher Education, V. Lovitoly Sema, NCS, stated that the department had received a formal communication from the Nagaland College Principals Association (NCPA) highlighting “critical issues observed by them in the recently declared results (2025) for even semesters.”

The letter listed the specific concerns raised by the NCPA, which include: Mass failures particularly in 2nd semester in all the streams; Mass failures in a single paper for [an] entire department within institution; Discrepancies in internally evaluated papers; and Inadequate re-evaluation provisions.

According to the Higher Education Department, it has come to light that “college authorities are receiving [a] number of complaints from students, parents and faculty members, which casts doubt on the fairness and accuracy of the results.”

In response, the department has requested the Vice-Chancellor to “look into the critical issues raised by the NCPA and take up the remedial course of actions over the issues raised by them.”

The letter, marked with reference to NCPA’s earlier communication (No. NCPA-HE-NUex/3, dated 17th July 2025), has also been copied to the President of the Nagaland College Principals Association for information.

“Your kind cooperation is anticipated,” the department added in its appeal to the university authority.
