Massive soil erosion occurred in Alahuto Colony, Zunheboto town, due to incessant rainfall. The newly elected member of ZTC from the concerned colony, Vikheshe Aye, said that officials from the District Administration and NSDMA, Zunheboto, took stock of the ground situation and advised precautionary evacuation.

Deputy Commissioner of Zunheboto, Rahul Bhanudas Mali (IAS), has informed that the District Administration has provided emergency relief funds to the thirteen affected households, with three houses being demolished for safety measures. Considering the magnitude of the eroding soil, a major landslide is anticipated, which could be of serious concern, the DC added.

Damage to properties and materials, as well as disconnections of electricity and telephone poles/lines, were reported.
