Chümoukedima, 24 February (MTNews): Master Aloto, a rising star in Nagaland’s cricket scene, has defied the odds to become a beacon of inspiration for aspiring young talents across the state.
The Secretary General of Nagaland Olympic Association, Abu Metha, shared the remarkable journey of this young athlete on social media recently, highlighting the transformative power of sports.
Mas. Aloto’s story is one of resilience and determination. Born into a family facing economic challenges, with a mother working as a daily wage earner and losing his father at a tender age, Master Aloto had to overcome numerous obstacles. Forced to drop out of school, he discovered solace and purpose in the world of cricket.
His dedication and hard work paid off when he secured a spot in the Nagaland Under 16 Cricket team. In his debut BCCI tournament, Master Aloto showcased his exceptional talent by scoring an impressive 641 runs, including three centuries, and also taking 33 wickets.
Master Aloto also played in the recently held Nagaland Olympic & Paralympic Games 2024, leading his team to the finals and clinching a well-deserved Silver medal.
Master Aloto and his elder brother, Mr. Mughavi, who also plays for Nagaland, are now earning over ten lakhs rupees as match fees per season. Their newfound financial stability allows them to support their family, marking a significant turnaround from the challenges they faced in the past.
Abu Metha expressed his satisfaction in witnessing the success of a grassroots development plan that has elevated athletes like Master Aloto to such remarkable heights. He emphasized the importance of such stories as a source of inspiration for the youth of Nagaland and expressed the association’s commitment to nurturing more talents like Master Aloto.
