The Mokokchung Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) has issued a public advisory cautioning individuals and groups against activities considered harmful to traders and the business community in Mokokchung.
In a statement, MCCI said selling calendars and tickets of any kind—including concert tickets, raffle or lottery tickets, buffet coupons and tambola slips—to traders and business owners is strictly prohibited. Anyone pressuring the business community to buy such items will be treated as engaging in illegal activity equivalent to extortion, it warned.
Stall owners, participants and organizers of the upcoming Winter Night Carnival were reminded to respect the interests of established business owners in the surrounding area. MCCI urged all participants to maintain cleanliness and follow proper hygienic practices.
The Chamber reiterated that the forceful collection of donations of any kind in Mokokchung is strictly forbidden. It said any individual or group, including cadres and functionaries of Naga Political Groups, found extorting or acting against the rights and welfare of the business community will face strict action.
MCCI further cautioned that transporting, storing, selling or bursting unregulated firecrackers without prior permission from the competent authority is prohibited. Members of the business community involved in such activities will be dealt with as per rules.
Business owners were also advised to refrain from unethical business practices and to ensure that parking spaces in front of their establishments remain accessible to customers rather than being occupied by their own vehicles.
