The Mokokchung College of Teacher Education (MCTE), Yimyu, hosted its Annual Award Ceremony-cum-Advent Christmas Celebration on November 26, 2025, centred on the theme “Joy in Expectation.” The celebration began at 2:00 PM and brought together faculty, student teachers, and staff in a spirit of anticipation and festive warmth.

The program opened with Session One, facilitated by Nokzenyala. An invocation prayer by Dembo Longchar set a reverent tone, followed by “My Christmas Story” shared by Zulumongla Jamir, who spoke on personal reflections and the meaning of Christmas traditions.

According to a press statement from the institution, a key highlight of the event was the Seasonal Address delivered by Pastor Majem Longkumer, Director of Shalom Ministry, Nagaland. Centering his message on the theme “Joy in Expectation,” he emphasized that true joy is deeply rooted not merely in celebration, but in the hope, assurance, and promise of Christ’s coming. He reminded the gathering that Advent invites believers to wait joyfully; not passively, but with hearts prepared, grateful, and expectant. His message resonated deeply, drawing attention to the spiritual essence of Christmas beyond festivities.

Session Two embraced the celebratory spirit of the season, hosted by Masters of Merriment Cikumla Chang and Y Moatemjen. The program included the Harmonic Yuletide Challenge and creative festive presentations from Semester 1 and Semester 3 student teachers, adding laughter, music, and entertainment to the evening.

Awards were presented to recognize exemplary achievement and dedication among student teachers:
• Most Promising Student Teacher Award (Batch 2023–25): Imtikumzuk Jamir
• University Topper (Top 15): Tiajungla Jamir

The celebration concluded with a renewed sense of gratitude, unity, and hopeful anticipation. The theme “Joy in Expectation” not only guided the program but echoed through hearts and reflections, reminding all present that Advent calls us to wait with meaning, and to rejoice in the promise of what is yet to come.
