Mokokchung, October 22 (MTNews): The first semifinal match between Moanungsang Memorial Sporting Club and Longpa Lomuden FC saw an exciting encounter as both teams showed resilience in their quest to secure a berth for the championship playoff.

MMSC dominated the first half, launching many attacks in search of a leader but a five-man Longpa backline proved impenetrable. Longpa Lomuden had a fantastic defensive formation throughout the game, trouncing the fast-paced MMSC side and impressing the fans.

Starting the second half Longpa Lomuden coach Imna’s incantation of the words “fast play” to his players appeared to have influenced the players as the Longpa side went on to give a competition to the opponents making notable shots on target, but the likes of MMSC’s Molutsupong, Inovi Chishi, Limakumzuk, and captain Rongsennungba kept the Longpa side at bay.

The teams headed to the tie breakers after a grueling 90-minute tussle in search of a spot in the final after the match ended 0-0 in regulation time. MMSC went on to win the match with Molutsupong, Temsutoshi, Limakumzuk, Imsumanen, and Inovi Chishi finding the target. Longpa Lomuden’s Bendangkumzuk missed his attempt on the fourth kick, ending the match 5-4 in favor of MMSC.

With the victory, Moanungsang Memorial Sporting Club will compete for the championship title on October 26th. They will face the winner of the semifinal match between Mongsenbai FC and Telongjem FC, which will be played on Monday, October 24th.
