Mokokchung, 18 October (MTNews): The second day of the MDFA Trophy 2023 featured two matches, with Moanungsang MSC taking on Dare Devils (AR) in the first match, and defending champions Telongjem FC facing Arka United in the second. Both Moanungsang and Telongjem displayed their dominance on the field, securing easy victories in their opening games of the tournament.

In the first match, Moanungsang MSC asserted their control over the game, finishing with a scoreline of 5 – 1. Molutsupong opened the account for Moanungsang MSC in the 23rd minute, closely followed by a goal from their captain, Inovi Chishi, in the 37th minute of the first half. After the halftime break, Meyasenba of Moanungsang added another goal in the 51st minute, extending their lead to 3-0. In the 58th minute, Helngam of the Assam Rifles team gave Dare Devils a glimmer of hope when he scored a goal, but Meyasenba secured his brace in the 75th minute, giving Moanungsang a 4-1 lead. Aripong sealed the victory for Moanungsang by scoring in the 91st minute of added time, resulting in a final score of 5-1.

Telongjem FC (red/blue) defeated Arka United 3-1 in the second match of Day 2 of the ongoing MDFA Trophy 2023 on Wednesday, 18 Oct.

In the second match, Telongjem FC convincingly defeated Arka United with a final score of 3-1. Telongjem made an early impact as Nythonger netted a goal in just the 2nd minute, followed by Tongpangshilu in the 38th minute. However, Arka United showed determination and received a much-needed boost when Kumangtongzuk scored in the 45th minute. Nevertheless, Nyithong Magh’s penalty in the 59th minute sealed the victory for the defending champions, marking the first win in their title defense campaign.
