Chargers FC fielded a strong line-up, featuring nine players from the Mokokchung team that represented the district in the most recent Dr T Ao Trophy. Their experience showed as they dictated the tempo for most of the match.

Sangpang Riju FC, a young side comprising players even from FAC, put up a spirited fight towards the closing stages but failed to convert their chances. Despite their late push, the Chargers’ defence stood firm.

While Longkhoi stole the spotlight up front, Osen was outstanding in covering the field, contributing both defensively and in build-up play. Illanger and Tangmong held the midfield well for Sangpang Riju, but Chargers remained a constant threat through their sharp midfield attacks, often keeping Sangpang’s defence on the back foot.

Irrespective of today’s result, Chargers FC and Sangpang Riju both qualify for the quarter finals from Pool D as they are the only two teams in the group.
