Mokokchung, March 5 (MTNews): The 6th Master Shield Trophy organized by Mokokchung District T20 Cricket Federation at Assam Rifles Ground, Mokokchung, concluded today as Trebuchet Cricket Club won the coveted running trophy after defeating Skylark Cricket Club in the final match.
Skylark winning the toss strategically elected to field first. Trebuchet’s Ajay, Avenash and Anoksangba showed some class by knocking 41, 30 and 20 runs respectively, contributing towards the final score of an imposing 162 runs in 20 overs losing 9 wickets. Meanwhile, Skylark’s Aloto scalped 2 wickets.
Chasing a target of 163 runs to win, Skylark’s Chambo and Sultan posted 17 and 11 runs respectively but could not find the fire power and consistency as the team struggled to find momentum and were bundled out for a paltry 60 runs in 16.4 overs losing 9 wickets, with one of their batters retired hurt. Trebuchet’s Chubaodang, Avenash and Mandal proved vital in the early dismissals of the Skylark side by pocketing 3, 3 and 2 wickets respectively, displaying quality bowling attack.
Trebuchet’s Ajay was named Man of the Match for his knock of 41 runs that helped his team win the match by a staggering 102 runs.
In the closing ceremony, Chief Patron, Sentilong Ozukum, SDO (C) Mokokchung, distributed the prizes to the teams. The match also witnessed players wearing a black arm band in memory of Lt. Purtoshi, Official Scorer, MDT20CF.
The champions, Trebuchet Cricket Club, was awarded the Master Shield trophy along with a cash prize of Rs. 40,000 and certificates while the Runners up, Skylark Cricket Club,was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 20,000 along with certificates. Chubaodang from Trebuchet CC was awarded the Man of the Series title.
