Me-Dam-Me-Phi Festival: Dr B Henshet Phom celebrates Tai Ahom culture

Vice Principal of Yingli College, Longleng, Dr B Henshet Phom, graced the Me-Dam-Me-Phi, the traditional ritual festival of the Tai Ahom people, as the ‘Guest Speaker’. The event was organized by the Indigenous Peoples of Mung-Dua-Chun-Kan at Moran Botamora, under Charai district of Assam, on 31 January 2025.

Dr B Henshet Phom asserted that politics and religion divide people, but culture unites them. He also emphasized the importance of the North East Indian region, as it is the meeting place of the South Asian plains and the South East Asian hills. Dr Phom appreciated the Tai Ahom leaders for strengthening their ties with the Tai people from many East Asian and South East Asian countries, and for their active participation in the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP).
