Medziphema, 15 April (MTNews): The Governor of Nagaland, La Ganesan, inaugurated the Kirtan Bhawan at Shree Shree Vindhya Basini Mandir today, marking a significant milestone in the temple’s history. Established in February 1962, the Mandir has a rich legacy spanning over 50 years.

Governor La Ganesan expressed his appreciation for the generosity of Late Vinezo Angami and his family, who donated the land where the Mandir now stands. He described today’s inauguration as a momentous occasion that symbolizes the Mandir’s commitment to spiritual enlightenment and communal harmony.

“The Kirtan Bhawan stands as a beacon of faith and devotion, transcending barriers of language and creed,” Governor La Ganesan remarked. “It is a testament to our rich cultural heritage and our unwavering belief in the power of spirituality to unite us all.”

In addition to the Kirtan Bhawan, the inauguration also included the inauguration of the Hawan Kund, a sacred fire pit used for performing hawan or yajnas—ancient Vedic rituals involving fire offerings. Governor La Ganesan highlighted the Hawan Kund’s spiritual and symbolic significance in Hinduism, serving as a focal point for religious rituals, spiritual purification, and communion with the Divine.

Governor La Ganesan encouraged everyone to uphold values such as compassion, empathy, and a shared sense of purpose. He emphasized the importance of drawing inspiration from the teachings of spiritual leaders and the wisdom of ancestors in creating a future rooted in harmony and peace.

Furthermore, the Governor urged people to uphold the principles of unity and inclusivity, fostering an environment where everyone can thrive and flourish. He called for collective efforts to create a society defined not by divisions but by a shared commitment to building a better world for current and future generations.

Highlights of the programme include welcome bhajan, katha bhachan, and the welcome address was delivered by, Vumram Giri, President, SSVBM.
