A resident of Mongsenbai Ward, Mokokchung, Imlikokba Jamir has always been passionate about fishkeeping. It is hardly surprising that he got his first aquarium from his father when he was only eight years old. He enjoys building aquariums from the ground up and generates income by selling fish and aquariums. His devotion to aquatic life is still unparalleled today.
On May 15, 2022, he created his firm under the name Mokokchung Aqua Desire after coming up with the notion to make it more than just a pastime. Akok stated that he always wants to share his love for fish with everyone, especially in a small town like Mokokchung where there aren’t many businesses that are interested in similar things. He goes on to say that he has connections with several fish merchants, including those from Nagaland, Delhi, and Kolkata, from whom he obtains the fish to sell, while acknowledging that there were numerous places to purchase fish.
He says that the price of ornamental fish varies depending on its species, size, and value. He stated that the price range could be as low as Rs 30 or as high as Rs 4,000.
Regarding the delivery process, he mentioned that he delivers items to clients in Kohima and Dimapur, where the customers are required to pay whatever the Sumo/Bus counters charge. Moreover, the delivery rates for Mokokchung frequently range from Rs 50 to Rs 100, depending on how close the customer’s location is to the business, he informed.
“Regarding aquariums, I typically build them in sizes ranging from 2 to 4 feet, though I will make a larger aquarium if the client requests it,” he stated.
“Everything is determined by the client’s requirements; My part is to do what they want of me,” he concluded.
